Margaurite 'Peggy' Peterson

Margaurite L. "Peggy" Peterson, 83, of Havre, Mont., died of natural causes on Dec. 19, 2012, at the Teton Medical Center in Choteau, Mont.

Rosary will be held 7 p. m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with Father Daniel Wathen officiating. Her burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. Jude Parish Center immediately following the burial. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Memorials in Peggy's honor may be made to Havre Youth Baseball, Shriners Hospital, St. Jude School, St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church or a memorial of the donor's choice.

Peggy was born Nov. 7, 1929, to Ernest and Angela Matuska in Taber, S.D. After graduating from Nashua High School, she moved to Wenatchee, Wash., to work for the phone company. After returning to Fort Peck, she met and married Ernest Peterson in 1955. In 1957, they moved to Havre, where they made their permanent home and raised their four children.

Peggy was a devoted member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and a volunteer at Northern Montana Hospital, the NMH foot clinics and the local soup kitchen. Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo and doing laundry. Most of all, Peggy loved taking care of her grandchildren when they were younger. She was an avid sports fan and followed her kids and grandkids in their sporting events. Baseball was her main joy, and she never missed a game. As Peggy got older, she still enjoyed listening to baseball games on TV.

Peggy is survived by sons, Tom (Julie) Peterson of Choteau, Mike "Hoover" (Kathy) Peterson and David (Kristi Shettel) Peterson, both of Havre; daughter, Cindy (Mike) Knudson of Havre; grandchildren, Jamie McBryan, Sean Peterson, Kinzee and Theron Peterson, Kaylee Woodwick, Michael Garrity and Nate, Nicole, David and Brian Lightner; great-grandchildren, Ben Woodwick, Parker Garrity and Sutton McBryan; brother, Tom (Delores) Matuska of Glasgow; sisters, Carol (Orville) Fossum of Glasgow; Judy Matuska of Riverton, Wyo., and Rita Nicol of Jacksonville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernie, parents Ernie and Angie Matuska; brother, Jim Matuska and sister, Ruthie Matuska.
