May have been spotted in South Carolina

A search is on for a 15-year-old Havre girl, who was last seen in Billings the night of March 28, although new reports say she may have been spotted in South Carolina.

Lori Trafford, records supervisor for the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office, confirmed this morning that that office, and other state law enforcement agencies, are looking for Dawna Keeley, who apparently was trying to hitch-hike her way out of Billings when last seen in the area of 5300 West King Avenue in that city about 11 p.m. March 28.

Trafford said no one knows where Keeley was trying to go when she apparently hitch-hiked out of town.

She said Keeley may have been seen in Horry County in South Carolina, although that has not yet been confirmed. Law enforcement continues to look for the girl there.

A post on Facebook's Missing Cases page says family and friends suspected Keeley may have been trying to return to Havre, or possibly en route to California or another state.

The family and authorities are greatly concerned for Keeley's safety, the post says.

She is described as 5'4" in height, approximately 102 lbs, brown or hazel eyes with long strawberry-blond hair. She was last seen wearing booty slippers designed for in-door use, a pink hoodie sweater and black sweat pants.

People with any information about the case or knowledge of Keeley's location are asked to contact their local law enforcement agency at 911, the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office at 406-256-2929 or the Montana Missing Persons Clearinghouse at 406-444-1526.
