Andrea 'MaryAnn' Messerly

Andrea "MaryAnn" Messerly, 64, of Lodge Pole, went to Heaven on Sunday, March 3, 2013, of natural causes at her residence.

Wake services will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Chief Nosey Recreation Center in Lodge Pole and will continue until her funeral service, which will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, also at the Chief Nosey Recreation Center. Burial will follow at Wolf Coulee Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

MaryAnn was born on July 23, 1948, in Fort Belknap to Leo and Violet (Sebastian) Long Fox. She was raised in Lodge Pole, graduating from the Flandreau Indian School. Following her graduation, she attended Dull Knife College, Fort Belknap College, and Northern Montana College, going to work as a secretary just nine credits shy of graduation with her bachelor's degree. She married Mike Messerly, and their union was blessed with two children. Mike and MaryAnn raised their children in Fort Belknap and then Lodge Pole, where she worked for the Commodities Program, the Community Health Representative Program, the Senior Center and the Lodge Pole Elementary School until 2007, when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

MaryAnn enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, flowers, sewing, and cooking large meals for just anyone who was at her house. She was dedicated at reading her Bible and absolutely adored the children at the elementary school where she worked. She was a happy, loving and caring woman, who is remembered as always singing, dancing, laughing and teasing with those she loved.

MaryAnn had a great sense of humor and a giving heart, and she loved spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Lodge Pole Assembly of God.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Violet Long Fox; her sister, Katherine Marie Long Fox; and her brothers, Leo Long Fox Jr., Leon Long Fox Sr., Basil Long Fox and Darwin Long Fox.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Mike Messerly of Lodge Pole; her daughter, Louwanna (Monte) Flying of Lodge Pole; her son, Donald Messerly of Lodge Pole; her four grandchildren, Jenelle Wing and Ang Long Fox of Lodge Pole and Gerri Lynn Cochran and Michael V. Stiffarm of Harlem; her eight great-grandchildren; her sisters, Thelma Head of Cut Bank, Theresa Tincher of Harlem, Wilma (Merle) Belcourt of Rocky Boy, and Angie (Hawkey) Jackson of White Bear; her brothers, Daniel (Christine) Long Fox of Lodge Pole and Richard (Hallie) Long Fox of Harlem; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
