Electrics zap North Stars

The Havre North Stars American Legion baseball club was excited to open Northern District play Sunday afternoon. But the North Stars had to face one of the best teams in the Northern A in that opener.

Havre took on the Great Falls Electrics Sunday afternoon in Great Falls and came away with a pair of losses. The North Stars fell in game one 9-3, then dropped the nightcap 11-1.

Offense was hard to come by for Havre in both games. In the first outing, the North Stars collected just three hits and scored all three of their runs after trailing 6-0 in the sixth inning. Tyrell Pierce, David Denny and Gavin Gunderson all had one hit each, while Pierce took the loss on the mound.

Things didn't get much better for the North Stars in the second game. In a five-inning loss to the Electrics, Havre managed just four hits while the Electrics slammed 11 hits and scored six runs in the middle innings to pull away from Havre. Denny, Spencer Roos, Ryne Antley and Travis Roth had one hit each for the North Stars, while Gunderson was the losing pitcher.

Havre, which is still winless on the season, will return to Great Falls Sunday for a pair of games against the Great Falls Bolts.
