9C Update: Big Sandy girls roll, HLP boys win on first night

The Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds survived a valient effort from the sixth-seeded North Star Knights in the firsat round of the District 9C boys basketball tournament Wednesday night in Havre. The T-Birds did prevail however, 52-47. The T-Birds will meet second-seeded Big Sandy Thursday night at 7:30 in the semifinals, while North Star will play in a loser-out tilt Friday at 2:30 p.m.

In girls action Wednesday night, third-seeded Big Sandy raced paced sixth-seeded Turner and into Thursday night's semifinals. The Pioneers will square off with North Star at 6 p.m. Thursday night, while the Tornadoes will play at 1 p.m. Friday.
