MSU-N volleyball signs Butte High middle blocker

Montana State University-Northern head volleyball coach Bill Huebsch has already compiled a strong recruiting class this spring. And Huebsch added another solid Montana signee to the class recently.

Huebsch announced that Butte High's Carlie Haeffner has signed an NAIA national letter of intent to join the Skylights this fall. Haeffner is a 6-0 middle blocker who has twice earned All-Conference honors for the Bulldogs volleyball program.

Haeffner

Haeffner has participated and has performed well in every season of high school athletics, which included volleyball, basketball, and track and field. She has earned Academic All-State nine times to date, and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.88. In track and field, she placed fifth in the 1,600 meter relay during her freshman season and tied for fourth in the high jump during the 2012 Class AA State Track Meet. She also competed on the basketball team that went to the Class AA state tournament each of her four years. However, she found her true passion in volleyball. During her junior year, Carlie received All-Conference Honorable Mention Middle Hitter.

During her search for the school of choice, Carlie had the opportunity to tryout to determine her compatibility with the team and the coaching staff. She discovered that "Coach Huebsch has a strong desire to win as well as the knowledge to help the team be successful. He proved that he could create a winning program and help the players improve."

Haeffner also has strong Northern ties. Her parents, Scott and Georgann Haeffner, are both Northern Alums. At MSU-Northern, she is planning on studying mathematics and biology in hopes of later attending graduate school to become a veterinarian.
