Saturday concert will help Salvation Army do its work

Sometimes destitute people walk into Havre's Salvation Army on the verge of having their gas cut off or being evicted because they have no money to pay rent.

The Salvation Army staff does what it can to help the people, said Trina Crawford, head of the Salvation Army in town.

In turn, she says, the Salvation Army turns to the community to seek out help so it can help others.

This weekend, the Salvation Army will ask for help from people while entertaining them with some great homegrown Hi-Line musical entertainment.

The annual Talent on the Hi-Line show will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Havre High School.

Among the performances lined up:

  • Sherry Miller and Friends will perform honky-tonk music.
  • Oriah Pratt, a Havre High junior who will do her own compositions.
  • A local group that includes Pastor Tim Zerger and musician Rhonda Minnick, will offer a program of '70s and '80s music.
  • Pastor Curt Curtis of the Assembly of God will entertain with contemporary Christian music.

Tickets are $5 per person or $15 for the entire family, Crawford said.

The Salvation Army always operates on a shoestring, she said. Recently there has been an uptick in need. Many people who, because of injury or disease are unable to work, have needed help keep their power on.

The Salvation Army can also provide gas vouchers so people can get to their jobs, she said.
