Mary was born on March 20, 1932, in Havre, to Herman and Esther (Bertrand) Weyh. She grew up in Havre, attending schools there, and graduated from Havre High School. In 1953, Mary married Norman Dees in Havre. The couple made their home on a farm outside Kremlin for the first few years of their marriage before returning to Havre to stay, and their union was blessed with two sons.

Mary was a feisty, strong-minded and tenacious woman who loved her family dearly. Her grandchildren were very special to her. In her younger years, she was very active, golfing, bowling, gardening, and caring for her yard. She and Norman traveled with the boys and camped at their cabin the Bear Paws often. In later years, she enjoyed reading, coffee at Taco John's, and shopping at the mall with her grandchildren, although she took them one at a time. She also enjoyed traveling with Norman in her later years, and she remained close to her sisters and brother.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Dees; her grandson, Tanor Dees; and her parents, Herman and Esther Weyh.

She is survived by her sons, Steve (Mitzi) Dees of Kremlin and Paul (Debbie) Dees of Havre; her grandchildren, Jared (Amber) Dees of Kremlin, Stefnie (Steven) Redding, and Trevor Dees, Caden Dees, and Jason DeLorme, all of Havre; her great-grandchildren, Jerek Dees and Jostyn Dees of Kremlin, and Coyal Redding and Levi Dees, and Jaycee DeLorme, all of Havre; her sisters, Dorothy (William) Foster of Arizona, and Frances Cowan, Marge Johnikin and Lori Ward, all of Havre; and her brother, Bill Weyh of Whitefish.
