Tree-planting to honor Harrison and Arlie Lane

The Havre Task Force for Urban Reforestation Committee has invited people to a special ceremony Wednesday to honor two long-time Havre residents, educators, volunteers and tree-planting advocates.

A memorial tree-planting ceremony is scheduled to start at noon Wednesday in front of the Vande Bogart Library at Montana State University-Northern in honor of Harrison and Arlie Lane.

Lanes moved to Havre in 1954, where Harrison Lane taught at Northern Montana College, now Montana State University-Northern, and Arlie Lane worked as a social worker, then for the Havre Junior High School and then both the Northern and the Havre-Hill County libraries.

A press release from the Havre T.U.R.F. Committee invites people to join the committee at the ceremony to “help us express our appreciation for all Arlie and Harrison have done for the area.”

For more information, the release says, people can contact Sara at 265-5781.
