Havre man sentenced to four years for meth sales

A Havre man will spend four years in federal prison for selling methamphetamine in the region for several years.

Judge Dana Christensen in federal court in Great Falls sentenced Rodney Cooper, 50, to 48 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release after Cooper previously pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to the press release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Montana, police began investigating Cooper, long suspected of distributing meth in Havre and on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation, in 2011.

In February 2011, the police began an undercover operation, with an informant purchasing meth from Cooper, the release said.

In 2012, police also interviewed several witnesses who said they had purchased meth from Cooper. The police determined Cooper had possessed and distributed meth from 2003 through 2012, the release said.
