Information sought in Havre-area game wasting case

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials are seeking information from the public about the illegal wasting of deer meat in rural Hill County.

Havre-area Warden Andy Fuerst said a headless deer carcass was found left in dumpsters on the St. Joe Road about nine miles north of Havre on Feb. 4. The carcass has been skinned out and mold was on the meat, meaning it likely was left hanging too long somewhere before being illegally discarded.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Fuerst directly at 406-262-2407 or the Turn In Poachers-Montana hotline at 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668). Callers can remain anonymous and may be offered a cash reward if the information leads to an arrest.
