Recycle drive set for Saturday

Special to the Daily News

The Recycle Hi-Line Recycle Drive, scheduled for this Saturday, is the same day as America Recycles Day sponsored by Keep America Beautiful.

The Recycle Hi-Line Recycle Drive is held year round at Pacific Steel and Recycling on the third Saturday of each month.

The hours of operation for the drive have changed to start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 am. People can enter at the west gate of Pacific Steel and Recycling and exit through the east gate.

Organizers remind people to keep Nos. 1, 2 and 4 plastics clean and with the lids off but included, and to separate these from No. 5 plastics.

The drive accepts only these types of plastics, along with glass bottles, paper, newspaper, junk mail, envelopes, magazines, cardboard, box board, alkaline batteries, light bulbs in their original boxes, any metals and e-waste — TVs and monitors will have a charge.

The drive is conducted by volunteer members and friends of Recycle Hi-Line, a nonprofit 501(c)3, which does not receive any proceeds for recyclable materials or from managing this event.

For more information about the drive, Recycle Hi-Line or recycling in general, call Candi Zion at 899-6513.
