Northern slates MLK day celebrations

Special to the Daily News

Montana State University-Northern will be celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy with two different events.

An event today is prepared particularly for the Northern community. The event will include a reading of King’s famous speech along with an analysis of his legacy, abstract art inspired by King, and gospel/soul music. The Food Court will be serving soul food from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Becky Toth and her staff are planning to host and serve at this event.

Monday’s celebration will be held with the idea of inviting all families and organizations in the Hi-Line.

The event will happen on the actual holiday, Monday, Jan. 19, with sponsorship by the Corporation for National and Community Service, Hope World Wide, and Montana Campus Compact.

The event will repeat items from today’s celebration along with trivia about King’s life and contributions and a performed dialogue called “De-stereotype Me.”  Everyone from the community is invited to attend from 10 a.m. until noon in the SUB Ballroom.
