Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Tylynn Rettig, North Star Track

North Star senior Tylynn Rettig has done a lot of special things in her track and field career. But she saved some of her best for her last District 9C meet. Last Wednesday in Havre, Rettig won four events and finished second in another. She swept the 100 and 200 meters, and also won the pole vault and long jump. For good measure, Rettig, who will compete in track in college, also finished second in the triple jump. Rettig, a four-year standout in basketball and volleyball as well, will now finish her prep career at the Northern C and Class C state meets the next two weeks.

Payton Peterson, North Star Track

The North Star Knights were able to defend their 9C boys track and field championship at last week's 9C meet in Havre. And Payton Peterson was a big reason why. Peterson won two gold medals and placed in five events for the Knights at the Havre Middle School Track. Peterson, who is also a basketball and football star at North Star, won the high jump and pole vault, finished second in the triple jump and third in the long jump, as well as fifth in the 100 meters. Those points helped the Knights win their second straight 9C championship.
