Obituary - Meloy Orvis Olson

Meloy Olson of Havre passed away Nov. 4, 2015, at Northern Montana Care Center at the age of 74.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Michael O'Hearn officiating. Memorials may be made in Meloy's name to the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Meloy Orvis Olson was born June 30, 1941, to Clarence and Olga (Hoines) Olson in Veblen, South Dakota. He graduated from Veblen High School in 1959.

Meloy joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and served for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1962 as an SP4.

He married Marion Guy on Aug. 8, 1964. They had three children, Marla, Martin and Matthew. Meloy worked as a power lineman and electrician.

In 1979 he and his family moved to Havre, Montana, where he worked for Hill County Electric. He was later employed at Big Bud Tractors and Meissner Tractors.

Meloy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. He loved being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Meloy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Curtis Olson.

He is survived by his wife, Marion of Havre; his children, Marla Gasvoda (Jay Shulund), Martin (Tiffany) Olson and Matthew Olson, all of Havre; grandchildren, Faith and Hope Gasvoda, Allisa Olson, and Morgan, Mariah and McKaya Olson; sister, Marlene (Ken) Forgey of Redfield, South Dakota; brother Clarence (Sandy) Olson of Hutchinson, Minnesota; sister-in-law Jan Olson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brother-in-law Elden (Judy) Guy of Anoka, Minnesota; mother-in-law, Lillian Guy of Sisseton, South Dakota; and nu
