Man denies attack and probation violation

A man who pleaded guilty in October to drunkenly pulling his girlfriend off the couch by the hair and is now accused of repeatedly punching his father, while in an inebriated state, and resisting arrest, was back in District Court Monday afternoon.

Robert J. Sunchild, born 1982, denied allegations that he violated parole conditions for the assault he pleaded guilty to Oct. 1.

He pleaded not guilty to recent charges of partner or family member assault and resisting arrest for the Dec. 1 incident.

Sunchild was out on parole for approximately two months before he allegedly attacked his father and had to be shocked with a Taser twice before being detained Dec. 1.

Monday's court appearance was two-fold: to enter a plea to the charges of family member assault and resisting arrest and to answer to the allegations that he violated conditions of his initial parole by physically assaulting his father and consuming a half bottle of Crown Royal, a pint of Bacardi and a couple shots of Hennessey.

Sunchild is scheduled to be in District Court Jan. 15 for an evidentiary hearing regarding the allegations that he violated parole.
