Havre High senior Dane Warp did some heavy lifting at this past weekend's Eastern A divisional boys basketball tournament. But, fellow senior Jerod Boles was doing work as well. Boles, the Blue Pony point guard, averaged 13 points and shot better than 50 percent from 3-point-range in helping the Ponies to the Eastern A title. Boles, who is also a golf and tennis star for the Blue Ponies, had back-to-back games of 15 points, including a 15-point, four 3-pointer performance in the opening round on Wednesday.
When it was decided that Class A would go to two divisional tournaments instead of four, no one was too sure how it would affect their teams, or their schools. But, I think it’s safe to say that, at least for Havre High, so far so good.
This past weekend, the Blue Pony boys and girls basketball teams were in Billings for the Eastern Divisional tournament, which combined both the Eastern A and Central A divisions for what some were calling a super divisional. The Western A did the same, combining the Southwest A and Northwest A in Butte over the weekend.
And for Havre at least, the new division...
