Area gridders shine in Class C All-Star games

Though football season has long since been over, or, is a long way from starting, it didn’t feel like that for Hi-Line fans Saturday night in Highwood and Butte.

Plenty of area preps were on display at two Class C All-Star games Saturday night, and their presence was certainly felt.

At the Six-Man All-Star Game in Highwood, Box Elder’s Jerrod Four Colors hauled in a 50-yard and a 17-yard touchdown pass to help his Blue Team dominate the game 54-28. But, Four Colors wasn’t alone in the Box Elder, or the Hi-Line glory.

Box Elder’s Bodis Run had an interception and a fumble recovery on his way to being named the game’s Defensive MVP, while Elias Duran also caught the game’s opening touchdown pass. Both Bodis Duran (football) and Four Colors (basketball), will be attending MSU-Northern this fall.

“It’s really cool to be able to say you won your final high school game,” Four Colors told the Great Falls Tribune after the game.

The Blue Team’s dominating performance was also sparked by a couple of North Star Knights. Payton Peterson, who will also be going to Northern to play football, caught an 8-yard TD pass from Paxton Miller, the game’s offensive MVP in the third quarter, while Gavin Spinler, who’s headed to Rocky Mountain College to play in the fall, capped the game with a 20-yard touchdown run.

Meanwhile, at the Bob Cleverly 8-Man All-Star Game in Butte, Chester-Joplin-Inverness’ Justin May introduced himself to Montana Tech’s Alumni Coliseum, where he’ll be in the fall, by earning that games’s Defensive MVP Award. May returned a fumble on a PAT for a touchdown, which was one of just two scores for his Blue Team in a 38-16 loss.

The Blue Team’s other score came by way of Chinook star quarterback Ian McIntosh, who punched in a one-yard run in the third quarter.

Chinook and CJI were both well-represented in the contest.

The next stop on the All-Star Game circuit is the annual Badlands Bowl, where several Hi-Line players, including Havre’s Dane Warp, will be in action. That game is set for June 18 in Dickinson, North Dakota.
