Hi-Line Cruz'n's Rod Run is tonight, Saturday

For 30 years, every summer the Hi-Line Cruz'n Association has held its Rod Run, bringing people from throughout Montana and adjacent states and provinces to Havre to show off their classic cars to the general public and chat with each other.

As years have gone by, the program has become more popular and more classic cars owners are coming to town and more townspeople are enjoying the show.

Craig Otterstrom, a longtime member of the association, said this weekend should be much like previous gatherings.

People will arrive in town for registration tonight, he said. Often they drive around town in their antique cars raising eyebrows as they travel around around town.

The annual Show 'N Shine will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Great Northern Fairgrounds.

Participants will show off their cars. The public always seems to be interested in talking to the owners, he said, and the car owners love talking to the public.

Some of the car owners will show off cars from the 1920s that are pampered and polished so they look brand new, he said.

Others will bring hot rod cars from the 1950s and 1960s, he said. Everything in between will also be on display.

He said the public is encouraged to stop by and see the cars.

After the Show 'N Shine, he said, there will be a poker run. Saturday afternoon shoppers are likely to see the cars around town during this event, he said.

A pitchfork steak fondue dinner followed by award presentation and dancing to Blind Luck will complete the weekend, he said.

People will take off for home Sunday morning.
