MSU-N AD Oberquell honored by Frontier

Montana State University-Northern athletic director Christian Oberquell has been honored by the Frontier Conference and the NAIA.

Oberquell was recently named the Frontier Conference Athletic Director of the Year, and the conference announced last week that Oberquell is now a nominee for the NAIA Athletic Director of the Year.

Frontier Conference Commissioner Kent Paulson announced the conference's nominees for NAIA honors. The individuals were selected at the recent summer meetings of the league's presidents/CEOs and athletic directors.

Oberquell, Montana State-Northern athletic director, has been chosen as the nominee for NAIA Athletic Director of the Year. The award is given annually based on accomplishments during the previous year in the areas of athletics administration and service to the NAIA.

Jerek Wolcott, sports information director at Carroll College, is the league's nominee for Sports Information Director of the Year. The award is based on accomplishments during the previous year in the areas of athletics communication, sports information, administration and service to the NAIA.

Clay Robinson, faculty athletic representative at Lewis-Clark State College is the league's nominee for the Wally Schwartz Award. This award, initiated in honor of past NAIA Vice President of Legislative Services and NAIA Hall of Famer Wally Schwartz, recognizes a Faculty Athletics Representative who exemplifies the loyalty, enthusiasm and honesty displayed by Schwartz during and beyond his time at the NAIA.

Tracy Collins, head athletic trainer at Lewis-Clark State, is the conference's nominee for NAIA Athletic Trainer of the Year. The award recognizes an NATA Certified Athletic Trainer at an NAIA institution who has distinguished themselves as a model of the profession of athletic training in personal conduct and professional allied health service to athletes.

The award winners will be announced in September.

Before becoming the full-time athletic director at Northern, had served as an assitant AD, and the head certified athletic trainer.
