Quick Pics: Ice cream and music at the Square

Kendall Holden, 16, has been driving Havre's Ice Cream Truck around town since his dad bought the truck last year. They added freezers, a seat, a radio and a radiator to the already-painted truck. Some of his most lucrative spots are at events like here at Town Square for Sounds on the Square as well as the train station. "If the train is late and the waiting passengers are hot and bored, they are going to buy more ice cream," he said. When asked what's the best thing about his job, Holden said, "There was a little girl about 4 who came up to me with a handful of coins 'I think this is a dollar' she said. I took the time to count out the coins with her teaching her what each coin was." The worst, he said Wednesday, was, "Just today, at the train station, I had to help a lady count out her change, but she was over 65 and very intoxicated. ... Some may think I'm just a kid selling ice cream, but actually I make people happy and there are those teaching moments. ... It's very rewarding," he added.
