Obituary: Denny Lee Johnson Sr.

Denny Lee Johnson Sr. of Havre, 73, passed away Nov. 19, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Public viewing will be Saturday, Nov. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook with public burial to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Kuper Memorial Cemetery in Chinook.

Denny was born in Harlem, Montana, March 16, 1943, to Kenneth and Adeline Johnson. He was the second of seven children. Denny graduated from Hogeland High School in 1961.

Denny went on to marry the love of his life, Linda Kay McGillivray, Nov. 9, 1963, and they had three children.

Denny had many professions but made most of his friends while working in the school system as a custodian. He spent most of his career at Turner Public School up on the Big Flat.

Denny loved life and family. He enjoyed all outdoor activities including camping, fishing and a good bonfire. He enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR racing, and helping family and friends with projects. He also took pride in the 10 years that he spent caring for the landscape of Gabrielle Vaupel's property and enjoyed helping out on the family farm.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Adeline Johnson; his beloved wife, Linda Johnson; and his brothers-in-law, Max Jolicoeur and Dennis Alex.

Denny is survived by his daughter, Delynn (Scott) Hall, and his sons, Darren (Christie) Johnson and Denny (Amy) Johnson; his sisters, Gladys Alex, Corrine Jolicoeur and Arlene (Steve) Ruhd, and his brothers, Howard (Kathy) Johnson, Gary Johnson and Gerald (Nita) Johnson; his grandchildren Amber (Jared) Dees, Allen (Kayla Knowlton) Granlund and Jordon (Lara) Brough; great-grandchildren Jerek and Jostyn Dees; and many nieces and nephews; also, his beloved pets Kylie, Trixie, Oreo, Scrappy, Louie, Daisy and Woody.
