Obituary - Kenneth Wayne Hanson

Heaven has a new angel as Kenneth Wayne Hanson was given his wings Jan. 7, 2018. His loving family was at his side as his fight with cancer ended.

Ken was born May 20, 1961, in Warroad, a very small town in northern Minnesota. From a young age, Ken was known to be hard worker. He would take farm labor jobs to help provide for the family. A job opportunity brought him to Havre, MT. He started with a cleaning company, and then took a custodial position at Northern Montana College. Although it was not an ideal position for him, it allowed him to begin a life as a husband and father. Ken and Lora Fisk were married, and brought to their union a son, Aaron.

Always wanting to learn more, Ken began a career in the construction field. Brad Lotton with Lotton Construction gave him this chance, and for the past 11 years, Ken had found a home at Clausen and Sons. He would point out with great pride all the projects around town of which he had been a part.

In 2016, Ken was told he had stage IV lung cancer. He dealt with it head-on, never giving in, while working all that he could. It was an honorable effort, but a war he couldn't win. His quick wit, dry sense of humor, and compassionate soul will be greatly missed.

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Hanson, and his mother, Betty Matelski.

He is survived by Lora Hanson; son, Aaron (Leanne) Hanson; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Carter; sisters, Brenda, Kim, Dawn, and Lisa; brother, Larry; stepfather, Ernie Matelski; and special nephew Jamie. He is also survived by his very best friend and sweetheart, Carol Habeger.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Ken's life will be held at the Eagles Club in Havre from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018. Please come and help us remember an awesome man!! Go Vikings!!
