Obituary - Arline M. Baker

Long-time Savoy/Harlem resident Arline M. Baker, 97, passed away Jan. 15, 2018, after a brief stay at the Sweet Nursing Home in Chinook, Montana.

A viewing will be held at Edwards Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, from 3 to 5 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at the Harlem Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, followed by a remembrance service and luncheon at the Harlem Senior Citizen's Center.

Arline was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Libby, Montana, to A.P. and Nellie Klingler. She graduated from Harlem High School in 1937 and attended Northern Montana College in Havre, Montana. She married Eddie Baker Dec. 1, 1940, in Harlem. Ed and Arline farmed north of Savoy for many years, until the early 1970s. She was actively involved in the farm, in which she still owned.

Arline enjoyed her family and homemaking. She was also a housekeeper and babysitter in her early years. She was a charter member of the Birthday/Card Club, which she still was an active member. She enjoyed any opportunity to play cards among family and friends at the Senior Center. Arline loved all her grandchildren and babies. She loved to visit about old times. She was awarded Senior Citizen of the Year. Her hobbies included cooking, playing piano, crossword puzzles, and crocheting. She served as an election judge in many elections and knew the history of the area and was a seed show judge. In early years she gardened and canned.

Survivors include children Bob (Margie) Baker, Bill (Kathy) Baker, Brian (Mary Ellen) Baker, Jim (Theresa) Baker, Betty (Darwin) Zellmer, Marcia (Richard) Mohar and Mary (Tom) Kraft; grandchildren Dawn, Tim, Mike, Charlie, Melissa, Sheila, Scott, Steve, Sean, Danny, Keith, Kevin, Alexis, Darcie, Jacquelyn, Marilyn, Renae, Tamara and Michelle; 34 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and sisters Barbara Arpin and Helen Christensen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Baker; an infant daughter; sisters Thelma and Bernice, and brother, Russell Klingler; and granddaughter Dawn Zellmer.
