Glacier Institute Volunteer Work Day set for May 19

Volunteers needed at Big Creek Outdoor Education Center and Field Camp to prepare for summer programs and camps

The Glacier Institute is hosting its annual volunteer work day Saturday, May 19, starting at 9 a.m.

Volunteers are invited to join Glacier Institute staff at both the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center about 21 miles north of Columbia Falls and Field Camp just inside the West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park to assist with campus upkeep and light construction. 

Projects include painting, light carpentry, raking, sweeping and cleaning. Volunteers are encouraged to bring tools including rakes, brooms, shop vacuums, wheelbarrows and work gloves. Lunch will be provided at both camps and the day will end with a barbecue for all volunteers at Big Creek.

The Institute has never turned away a child who has requested an educational scholarship and has welcomed over 33,500 Flathead Valley elementary school children to the Discovery School three-day immersion learning program at the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center.
