Touring duo You Knew Me When plays Sounds on the Square

A couple who played Wednesday night at Sounds on the Square has been touring the country for six years, Cie Hoover, the guitarist of the duo You Knew Me When, told the audience in between songs.

"As a married couple on the road," he said, "home is a relative concept, depending on where the other one is."

Cie and Karisa Hoover then began their next song "My Home is You."

The two live in Ouray, Colorado, the band's Facebook page says, "by way of Nashville, Tennessee." They play indie folk rock, with Karisa Hoover often strumming a ukulele during Wednesday's performance.

"My Home is You," which had a few heads nodding along at The Square, is from You Knew Me When's latest album, "Into the Looking Glass."

Karisa Hoover paused before starting a song from their previous album to tell the audience how, unlike a lot of people, she and her husband enjoy the winter and the snow.

The duo then sang their song "Seasons." The couple's voices, hers high and his deep, blended over the guitar and ukulele.

You Knew Me When plays in Great Falls tonight at Music on the Mo.

Sounds on the Square continues for one more week, with local blues-rock band Shovels and Shotguns performing Wednesday.
