News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Secret of energy

You know, Lord, a friend was chatting the other night about her wise old father, who commented about how the old days contrasted with the present. He’d told her that when he was a young man courting in the evening, sitting with his “intended” in the parlor, time was measured by the deliberate strokes of the old grandfather’s clock. He said that the old clock seemed to say: “There is plenty of time, there is plenty of time.” Modern clocks, he told her, tick really fast and say, “Time to get busy, time to get busy, time to get busy!” Or worse yet, they continually and urgently hum; everything has sped up, he told her, and that is why so many people are always so tired.

Another friend had told us how her grandma had told her to go get tuned into God. She’d said, “What?” Grandma told her that she needed more energy, so, go somewhere all alone, lie down on the grass and listen to the earth. When you put your ear to the earth, you will hear all kinds of sounds. And you’ll find that nature has a defiant tempo which is difficult to hear amid traffic, etc.

Another secret to get more energy is to get interested in something. Get absolutely enthralled by some thing! It seems that the harder we work at something outside of ourselves, the more energy we will have coming back to us! When we feel our vitality going down, call on the Lord: “Lord, You have all the energy there is in this world and I need a little of it. Won’t You give some to me?” Then affirm it, receive it, act as though you have it and you will have it; it’s as simple as that. Thank You, Lord, for Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.”

Love, Mara
