Chuck was born on September 3, 1929, in Chester to Clarence "C.B." and Annie (Taplin) Williams. When he was young, the family moved to Havre, where he attended school and graduated from Havre High School in 1947. While in school, Chuck participated in football, basketball and track.

On October 30, 1948, he married Marguerite "Betty" Hafdahl, and the couple made their home in Havre where they raised their four children. Chuck worked as a sheet metal worker his entire life. After retiring in 1991, he and Betty wintered in Arizona until her passing in 1993.

Chuck enjoyed golfing, camping and four-wheeling with family and friends. Every morning, he could be found at the Oxford with his coffee buddies, solving the world's problems. He was an avid supporter of youth athletics, especially the American Legion Baseball Program, and the Blue Pony and Montana State University-Northern athletic programs. Chuck volunteered countless hours on the renovation of the American Legion Field and could be found in the stands enjoying the game with Wells Lamey. He was also a recipient of the Dr. Jim Elliot Memorial Award.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Betty; parents Clarence "C.B." and Annie; brother, Earl Williams; sisters Thelma Crawford and Barbara Rominger; and son-in-law Vince Woodwick.

Chuck is survived by his children, Janice Williams of Williston, N.D., Mickey (Jackie) Williams, Debra Woodwick, and Pamela (Mark) Ehlert, all of Havre; grandchildren, Nathan Woodwick, Andrew (Brandy) Ehlert, Sheri Hampton, Stacy (James) Waters, Brian (Lauren) Ehlert, and Jennifer (Nick) Toth; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Charlotte Rominger of Arizona; sister-in-law, Irene Williams of Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
