Rowdy was born on February 8, 2000, in Havre to Gordon Denny Sr. and Lisa Sangrey, and was a direct descendent of Chief Little Bear. He was raised in Rocky Boy and Bismark, ND, attending schools in both locations. While in school in Bismark, Rowdy was quite the wrestler, traveling the whole state to attend matches. He was a happy, social young man who had eclectic tastes in music, loved to read and debate religion with his mother. He was also very traditional, having danced in the SunDance Lodge for a couple of years, and was very proud of his heritage and culture, participating in cultural activities at every opportunity.

Rowdy was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Denny Sr .; brother James Sangey; sister Shelby Lyn Denny; grandparents Delia Demontiney Katherine Denny, Joyce Four Souls, Joe Demontiney, Sr., Harriet St. Pierre, and Monte Stump; great-grandmother Minnie Gopher Sangrey; and numerous cousins.
