Obituary - Rowdy Jo Denny

Rowdy Jo Denny, Wi-s'ah-ki-chak-o-pi-pi-gwahn "Trickster's Whistle," passed away due to injuries sustained in a police pursuit on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.

Wake services began at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018, and will continue until his traditional funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Rowdy was born on February 8, 2000, in Havre to Gordon Denny Sr. and Lisa Sangrey, and was a direct descendent of Chief Little Bear. He was raised in Rocky Boy and Bismark, ND, attending schools in both locations. While in school in Bismark, Rowdy was quite the wrestler, traveling the whole state to attend matches. Following his school years, Rowdy spent time with his friends and looking for his career niche.

He was quite the prankster, with his mom most often the recipient of his good-natured pranks. He was a happy, social young man who had eclectic tastes in music, loved to read and debate religion with his mother. He was also very traditional, having danced in the SunDance Lodge for a couple of years, and was very proud of his heritage and culture, participating in cultural activities at every opportunity.

Rowdy was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Denny Sr .; brother James Sangey; sister Shelby Lyn Denny; grandparents Delia Demontiney Katherine Denny, Joyce Four Souls, Joe Demontiney, Sr., Harriet St. Pierre, and Monte Stump; great-grandmother Minnie Gopher Sangrey; and numerous cousins.

He is survived by his mother, Lisa (Tony) Stump of Rocky Boy; sisters Shawn Denny, Lorna Chief Goes Out, Shakeen Stump, Caitlin Standing Rock, Angel Windy Boy, and special sister Zahne Moreno; brothers Rebel Denny, Gordon Denny Jr., Seth Johnson, Kendal Windy Boy and Zachary Moreno; grandmother Jeanette Demontiney; grandfathers James "Buzzy" Sangrey, Larry "Spud" (Margaret) Denny, and Jonathan Windy Boy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
