Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Joelnell Momberg, Box Elder Girls Basketball

Joelnell Momberg is no stranger to putting the ball in the basket. The Box Elder junior is already a two-time Class C All-State performer. But even she went big this past weekend. Momberg scored 37 points in a win over Turner last Thursday, which is the best scoring performance in girls basketball this season. She also poured in 23 points in an easy win over Hays-Lodge Pole last Saturday night to help the Bears stay undefeated. Of course, Momberg, who also plays volleyball at Box Elder, was a key cog in last year’s state title team.

Cody Welsh, Turner Boys Basketball

Turner senior Cody Welsh is used to doing big things. A state champion in the 300 hurdles on the track last spring, Welsh shined on the basketball court this past week. In Turner's exciting win over Box Elder last Thursday night, Welsh poured in a career-high 36 points as Turner won 77-53. The Tornadoes would fall short against Big Sandy Friday night, but Welsh still managed a 20-point outing, capping a huge week for the standout three-sport athlete, who is a two-time All-District 9C performer for the Tornadoes.Welsh also played football for Harlem this past fall.
