Letter to the Editor - Thanks for supporting Chamber activities

Dear Editor,

The Havre Area Chamber of Commerce had two events in January that were greatly supported by the community and that need thank-yous extended on our behalf.

The 110th Annual Meeting and Luncheon was held at the Olympic Room of the Duck Inn again this year on Jan. 16. Our speaker, Dean Folkvord, founder of Wheat Montana, was a huge hit and we thank him for joining us. The soldout crowd enjoyed his story of an agricultural-based success. Special thanks go out to Larry and Loretta Obie for helping us secure Dean as our speaker. Chamber Ambassadors, Tande and Simone from Duchscher Kapperud Insurance manned the front desk with ease and my two favorite helpers, Julea and Marisa helped me with the room set up.

Our sponsors this year were NorthWestern Energy and D.A. Davidson & Company. Thank you to the Havre Daily News, New Media Broadcasters and the Havre Herald for continuing coverage of all our events and to the Chamber’s Board of Directors for their help. What a great group of new board members we have moving forward.

Although the second annual Arctic Games Ice Fishing Tournament was canceled due to unsafe ice conditions, the raffle drawing was held Jan. 26 as planned. Thanks to the Elks Lodge No.1201 for putting on a chili feed while we drew for the winners!

Carilla French won the NorthFace vest donated by Master Sports, two dinners at Ma’s Café were won by Bruce Flathers and Tim Hagen, a moonshine box from Crawford Distillery was won by Dan Majeske, an Enell gift basket went to Brian Albrecht, a brick of .22 shells from Bing ’n’ Bob’s to Mike Kellam,a kayak from Western Trailer Sales to Dave Fanning, a propane ice auger from Triangle Communications and the Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited to Ricky Clark and the grand prize of an ice house package worth $1.000 to Bridget Kallenberger donated by North 40 Outfitters.

Thanks to everyone that bought tickets, sold tickets and donated all these great prizes. Proceeds from this raffle will again award two Leadership High School students with scholarships. Thanks also to the Tourism Business Improvement District for your financial support of this event. Hope to be fishing in 2020!

Havre is a great place to live and do business.

Jody Olson
