Hi-Line Football Roundup

The Big Sandy Pioneers continue their trend of winning with another dominant victory.

The Pioneers crushed White Sulphur Springs last Friday 51-6 in Six-Man action.

The Pioneers' first two scores and conversions both came from their talented running back Kade Strutz. Strutz's first score was a 21-yard run, plus a rushing conversion. The second score was a short four-yard run and another rushing conversion.

Big Sandy's Brock Proulx scored next for the Pioneers with a two-yard rushing touchdown and Strutz added more points with another successful conversion run.

Strutz continued to have a spectacular game, scoring twice once again for Big Sandy. The young man found the endzone on a 22-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a Proulx rushing conversion, and scored again on a 28-yard run.

The Pioneers still had more points to put on the board. Ryan Roth rushed for 10 yards to score and then caught a pass from Strutz to extend Big Sandy's lead.

White Sulphur Springs managed to score after the Pioneers put on a relentless assault, as Alex Novark caught a 25-yard pass from Sam Davis for the touchdown. The Hornets unfortunately missed their extra point kick.

In the end, a 70-yard kickoff return touchdown by Kody Strutz would be the final stake in the Pioneers' claim of the win. Big Sandy continues its hot streak as one of the strong teams in six-man football.

The Pioneers will look to keep the win streak going when they play the Valier Panthers Saturday at 1.

Fort Benton 60, Chinook 14

The Fort Benton High football team also extended its undefeated record. The Longhorns put on a powerful showcase against the Chinook Sugarbeeters last Friday, with a 60-14 Northern C win.

Fort Benton has had a perfect season so far and has kept every team they have played so far to limited points. The Longhorns have held their four opponents to a total of 50-points. In just four games, Fort Benton has proved to be a mountain to climb for many teams.

But the Longhorns will face a real test Friday against another undefeated team, the Great Falls Central Catholic Mustangs. The clash of two powerhouses is a game that will challenge both teams.

Fort Benton and GFCC kick off Friday at 7 p.m. in Fort Benton.

North Star 45, Sunburst 24

North Star had a great game last Saturday against the Sunburst Refiners. The Knights found their first win of the season after striking down Sunburst 45-24.

North Star has looked for a win ever since the start of their season and went into the Sunburst game at home with an 0-3 record. After a dominant performance by the Knights, they have improved to 1-3 and are ready for their next challenge.

North Star will face off against the Heart Butte Warriors Saturday at 1 p.m.

Chester-Joplin-Inverness 26, Rocky Boy 20

The Chester-Joplin-Inverness football team improved to a 2-2 record after defeating the Rocky Boy Northern Stars 26-20 last Friday.

The Hawks' season has had an up-and-down progression so far. CJI lost their games in weeks one and three but won in weeks two and four. After winning against Rocky Boy, the Hawks have a lot to look forward to in their season and look to keep winning so they can make it to the top.

CJI will have to face a tough opponent in their next game, the Shelby Coyotes, who have had a very good season so far.

The Hawks kick off against the Coyotes Friday at 7 p.m. and hope to defeat the powerful Shelby team to add another win to their record.

Simms 84, Hays-Lodge Pole 20

The Hays-Lodge Pole football team did not have the game it was hoping for, falling to the Simms Tigers 84-20 last Saturday in a Northern C clash.

Simms' dominant performance gave HLP a very tough game and the team is hoping to bounce back in their next game.

The Thunderbirds only have one win in their season so far. Hays-Lodge Pole defeated the Rocky Boy Northern Stars early in the year. The Thunder Birds will play Rocky Boy Saturday at 1 to see if they can beat the Northern Stars for a second time.

Roundup 54, Harlem 16

The Harlem High football also experienced some difficulties against another strong team in the Roundup Panthers, losing 54-16 last Friday.

The Wildcats have struggled so far in their season and are still looking to add a win to their record for the year. Harlem has shown to be able to get some points on the board in their games, all they have to push for is finishing the game.

Harlem High will face off against the Glasgow Scotties Friday at 7 p.m. in Harlem.
