Rocky Boy announces election board vacancy

The Chippewa Cree Tribe of Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation announced Monday a vacancy needs to be filled on the tribal election board.

A press release from the Chippewa Cree Tribal Election Board says the position is for an election board member at-large and interested parties must submit a letter to the Election Board and or the tribal secretary-treasurer by Dec. 23, 2019. The Election Board encourages all qualified applicants that have no intent to file as a candidate for any tribal election office position to timely submit a letter of interest, it added.

It says that applicants must be a member of the tribe, have physically resided within the general area which encompasses the main body of the reservation or on any land under the jurisdiction of the tribe for two years prior to the date of the general election and must be at least 25 years old by the date of the election.

It added that people who have been convicted of a felony involving dishonesty or bribery, or convicted of use, possession or sale of illegal drugs, by federal, state or tribal courts cannot apply for the position until five years after they have served their sentences.

The Election Board member position will expire Aug.1, 2022.
