Letter to the Editor - Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame needs reorganization

Editor,

My fellow Montanans, I feel compelled to bring to your attention an issue that should concern you.

The Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame Board of Directors wasted nearly $1 million in taxpayer and contribution funds and no one has been held to account.

The MCHF board has lost the trust and support of Montanan’s.

The Membership dues have declined from its peak in 2013 of $41,527 — that was before the news of the Big Timber debacle was made public — to net dues of $13,634 in 2018.

Members of the board of directors have declined from 21 — before the Big Timber debacle — to 12 by the February 2019 annual meeting.

Only seven members of the board of directors attended the February 2019 Annual Meeting.

Trustee Membership? The last number I had was 91with only a few attending the 2019 annual meeting. Trustees were asked to stand at the MCHF Induction Ceremony — fewer than 12 stood up.

A reorganization of MCHF is the only way to unify Montanans again and to regain trust and support. I want Montanans to select the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Museum Site.

You can help by attending the MCHF Annual Meeting, Feb. 8.

Cordially,

Bob Sivertsen, Havre, MCHF member, 2013 MCHF inductee
