Havre Police Department

Officers investigated a report made at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday from a business on the 700 Block of First Street that someone wrote a bad check to the business.

Animal control investigated a report made from the 1900 Block of First Street at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday that a dog bit an 8-year-old boy who was getting off a bus.

Hill County Sheriff's Office

Deputies responding to a call from Box Elder at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday issued a summons to an 11-year-old from Box Elder on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs.

Deputies making a motor vehicle stop on Third Street and Fifth Avenue at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday arrested Sabrina Potter of Box Elder, 24, on charges of driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license, driving without insurance, operating a motor vehicle without valid registration and careless driving.

Havre Fire Department

Firefighters responded to a call at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday from the 1000 Block of Grant Avenue reporting a possible gas leak. The firefighters found the pilot had gone out on a water heater, and NorthWestern Energy responded and relit the pilot.

Firefighters responded to a call at 7:09 p.m. Wednesday from the 200 Block of Montana Avenue reporting a vehicle fire. The fire had been put out using a fire extinguisher when they arrived, and they found it likely was caused by an electrical issue under the car's seat. The vehicle experienced minimal damage.

Havre Animal Shelter

The Havre shelter this morning held 14 cats and one kitten of unknown gender, two female kittens, one male kitten, four male cats and three female cats and . Shelter personnel are working on another round of their trap/spay-neuter/release program, this time in the Fairview Trailer Court area, to help control the ferrel cat population in the city.

The shelter also held this morning a male American bulldog, a female mix-breed 22-week-old puppy, a male American Eskimo dog, a female 9-month-old German shepherd, a male mix-breed dog, a female mix-breed 7-week-old puppy, a male Chihuahua dog, a male mix-breed 11-month-old puppy and a male mix-breed 8-month-old puppy.
