Local Golf Report: Good luck Havre High golfers

From Tee to Green

Just like last week, this one is going to be another busy week on the golf course. So, before I get into results, playoffs and tournaments, I would just like to say an advanced thank you to Prairie Farms Golf Course and Beaver Creek Golf Course for helping us host this Thursday’s Havre Invitational Golf Tournament. The fact that both courses step up and do so much for our golf teams, just know, our Blue Ponies appreciate it very much.

Now, on to the results.

At Prairie Farms last week, the men’s league, 16-team playoffs started. Last Tuesday night saw Master Sports top Wagner Plumbing, DA Davidson beat BA Ranch, Tire Rama take down Independence Bank and Stockman Bank beat Valley Furniture on one half of the draw. On The other side HUB Insurance took care of Patrick Construction, Hole 19 beat BPCU, Korb Construction took out Rock Solid and Michelob Light beat Myers Ranch.

In Wednesday night’s quarterfinals, my crew from Korb Construction beat Michelob Light while HUB Insurance bested Hole 19 to set up one of tonight’s semifinalists. On the other side of the bracket, Master Sports took care of DA Davidson and Tire Rama bested Valley Furniture. Those two teams will meet in tonight’s other semifinal while the 18-hole championship match will be played out this week as well.

Ladies league will end the regular season this week at Prairie Farms. Last Thursday saw Northern Montana Hospital score 25 points for high team. The squad was made up of Kelsie Briese, Mary Pizzini, Carol Culp and Patti Nault. Carrie Kato and Haley Kline both shot 39 to share low gross, while Carolyn Patrick was low net with a 32.5.

Last Thursday night also saw the regular season come to a close in men’s league at BCGC. High-team honors went to Beaver Creek with 25.5 points. Craig Miller, Justin French, Rob Pitkanen and A.J. Keller made up the team. Dustin Haas and Kyle Miller each shot even-par to share low gross, while Jim Rader was low net with a 31. Parisian LCC won the regular season title at BCGC, while the playoffs begin Thursday night.

A pair of big tournaments were also held last weekend in Havre. At BCGC, the rescheduled Grip It n Rip It tourney was on tap. The tournament was a two-person event, while at Prairie Farms, the Natalie Patrick Foundation Scramble was held. Kyle Miller, Matt Hedstrom, Jeff Jensen, Jeremy Jensen and Hoover Peterson were the winners, while at both tournaments, I know, a great time was had by all.

Club championships are next up on the tourney scene.

Prairie Farms will host its men’s club championship this Sunday, while the women’s club championship will be played Aug. 30. Golfers can sign up for these events at the Prairie Farms Pro Shop.
