Local Golf Report: Thankyou all for another great year

From Tee to Green

I really hate to do it, but I must put a big shiny bow on this golf season. It’s always sad to write the final column of the year, but as they say, all good things must come to an end.

However, we’ll certainly end the 2021 local golf report on a high note, starting with my good friend C.J. Evans, who recorded a hole-in-one at Prairie Farms Golf Course last week. Evans aced the Par-3 13th hole with a 6-iron. The shot was witnessed by Kyle Miller and Ryan Callahan. Way to go, C.J.

Speaking of C.J., I must end this year’s column by thanking him and so many other people. Thanks to C.J. for doing the Prairie Farms men’s league secretary work this year, as well as being so generous to our Havre High golf teams. Thanks to Kelsey Ward for her work as the women’s league secretary, and thanks to Tanner Veis for his help as the BCGC men’s league secretary. Without you guys, this column wouldn’t be what it is.

I’d also like to say a special thank you to everyone who put on tournaments and other golf activities at both BCGC and Prairie Farms this summer. You all make golf the great sport that it is in our area.

Thank you also to both courses, The Baltrusch family, and Craig and Heidi Miller for all you’ve done for our Havre High golf teams this season, and for our youth golfers. You are helping us grow the game in our area, your help and generosity is making us better and I greatly appreciate that. Jeremy Jensen and Jimmy Kato, you two are also doing that. Thank you so much for all you have done for youth golf in Havre,

A big thanks to so many others who helped Blue Pony golf this season. Dennis Murphy, Byron and Lisa Ophus, Gene Harada, Sarah Spangler, the HHS parents, Jane Warp, I could go on and on. Without your help, what we have as a program wouldn’t be possible.

I have one more thank you to hand out, as well. Thank you so much to everyone who plays this great game. We love that golf is so popular in our area, and we appreciate all of you who support our two great courses. We’re very lucky to have such a great golf tradition in Havre, and on the Hi-Line, and it’s due to all of us who love the game.

So that’s it, another year has come and gone. Yes, there is still some good weather left on the horizon, so keep playing. But, as far as the newspaper goes, it's time to put From Tee to Green to rest for this year. So great playing everybody, and I’ll see you in the spring.
