Havre Red Cross blood drive a success

A Havre Community Red Cross Blood Drive was held at St. Jude Parish Center Monday, Jan. 3. There were 121 people scheduled with 96 units collected, 17 of which were double red cell units, commonly known as Power Red units. While this number is slightly lower than previous drives, it was still deemed a success. A "Thank You" goes to all who took time out of their lives to help save the lives of strangers.

A special thank you goes to the St. Jude Knights of Columbus for the consumé and tasty selection of freshly made and individually wrapped sandwiches. Thanks goes to Gary & Leo's Fresh Foods for providing fresh-made cookies.

Also, pre-packaged snacks, juice and water were provided by the Red Cross.

The next Havre Community Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for Monday, March 7, at St. Jude Parish Center. Appointments are still required so, to schedule an appointment, people can call 406-868-0911 or visit http://www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code "havre."

While Rapid Pass registration online is encouraged, it is not required, but it does shorten the time a bit for one to donate a unit of blood. To access Rapid Pass, people can download the Donor App to their mobile device by going to the Red Cross website at http://www.redcrossblood.org . People with questions or who have problems can contact someone at 1-800-Red Cross - 1-800-733-2767.

People who will be a first-time donor and/or have not had a donor card issued to them in either a hard copy or on their mobile device, are asked to bring a form of legal identification with them.
