Ice fishing derby at Dry Fork Reservoir Saturday

Chinook Rod and Gun Club is hosting its third annual Ice Fishing Derby on Dry Fork Reservoir Saturday.

Anglers will be competing at the reservoir north of Chinook for the largest fish by length of walleye, northern pike, bass and perch.

The tournament, which is limited to the first 50 anglers, begins 7 a.m. Saturday with registration, but preregistration and the $25 entry fee can be taken care of Friday 6 - 8 p.m. at either the Shanty Bar in Havre or the Chinook Eagles.

Competitors will be allowed to fish only with a hook and line, though tip-ups will be allowed. All competitors must comply with Montana fishing license requirements and follow Fish, Wildlife and Parks rules and regulations.

Fishing ends at 3 p.m. with a taco soup feed to follow at the Chinook Eagles, where all the cash prizes and door prizes will be awarded.

Organizers are also encouraging everyone to attend the Third Annual Brewfest fundraiser for the Blaine County Fair Foundation that will start 4 p.m. at the Commercial Building on the fairgrounds.
