WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden announced today that a tentative railway labor agreement has been reached, averting a nationwide strike that could have been devastating to the economy before the pivotal midterm elections.
Amtrak, which had shut down some long-distance trains including the Empire Builder that runs along the Hi-Line, said in a statement this morning it is working to quickly restore canceled trains and reaching out to impacted customers to accommodate on first available departures.
