Havre Girl Scouts earn Silver Award

Honored for promoting literacy

Press release

Kaylee Vaughn and Liliana Smith of Girl Scout Troop 3202 have been awarded the Silver Award, awarded by the Girl Scouts. The Silver Award is the highest award they can earn between sixth and eighth grades.

Vaughn and Smith have been promoting Early Literacy in the Havre community by reading to kids at local day cares, parks and the library. They have given out more than 500 books over the past year to local children.

They have also added a new Little Free Library located at the entrance to The Studio of Dance and Arts, 419 Sixth Ave., across from the Havre Community Pool. People feel free to grab a book to read to their children.

A thank-you has been extended to the Havre Daily News for the donation of an old newspaper box.
