Havre was the coldest spot in the state Thursday with a low of minus 38 - that didn't beat the Dec. 23, 1989, record of minus 45 - but the bitter cold may be easing up in this part of the country.
Predicted highs today in this area range from minus 5 to minus 11, but lows tonight are expected to be - relatively - warmer, ranging from minus 16 to minus 8, up to 30 degrees warmer than Havre's low Thursday.
The forecast calls for a chance of snow through Saturday, with the highs Saturday predicted to be just below zero in Harlem to the low 20s in Chester.
