Hi-Line wrestling teams compete at the Eastern B/C Divisional

Down in Columbus this past weekend, several wrestling teams from across the Hi-Line began the postseason with the Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament. Over the course of the weekend, wrestlers from the Hi-Line looked to perform well to qualify for the upcoming state tournament.

In the boys Eastern B/C Divisional, Huntley Project took first with 331 total points. Fort Benton finished fourth with 104 total points in the tournament. Over the weekend, several Longhorns placed to earn a spot at state.

Wrestling in the 113 pound weight-class, Fort Benton’s Trevor O’Hara finished first with a pin against Huntley Project’s Westen Lindeen in the championship match. At 182 pounds, Nathan Durham finished third for Fort Benton with a pin against Jaydeen Hanshew from Glasgow. In fourth place for the Longhorns were Gavin Schmele at 205 pounds and Damian Ort at 285 pounds.

At 160 pounds, Fort Benton’s Cade Ball pinned Michael King from Glasgow to place fifth. In eighth place for the Longhorns were Tyrus Reimer at 103 pounds and Arrow Hucke at 120 pounds.

Chinook came in seventh with 75.0 total points. Tyler Schoen started the postseason strong as he won a 9-1 major decision over Camryn Mears from Malta/Whitewater to take first at 182 pounds. Lane Snider came in fourth at 145 pounds for Chinook.

In sixth place for Chinook were Zeke Sanders at 120 pounds and Walter Schoen at 152 pounds. Gauge Chapman finished seventh at 126 pounds with a 16-7 major decision over Griffen Crowley from Chinook. In eighth for Chinook were Crowley at 126 pounds and Ayden Alisch at 152 pounds.

Big Sandy came in eighth with 65.0 total points. Quinn Rodewald had the best finish for the Pioneers as he took second at 103 pounds. At 138 pounds, Tannin Baumann pinned Eli Broadbrooks from Huntley Project to take fifth.

At 132 pounds, Wesley Cox pinned Straud Sims from Malta/Whitewater to take seventh. At 205 pounds, Sam Sox finished seventh with a pin against Boston Ewing from Red Lodge HS. Darrell Sunchild took seventh at 285 pounds as he pinned Rollen Spotted Bull from Poplar.

Harlem came in 18th with 29.0 total points. Kiwi Windy Boy had the best finish for the Wildcats as he took sixth at 182 pounds. At 152 pounds, Leon Champagne won a 6-2 decision over Alisch to take seventh. Landen Grey placed seventh at 138 pounds with a pin against Bryce Becker from Circle. In eighth place for Harlem was Kendon Young at 182 pounds.

Also in Columbus was the first girls wrestling Eastern B/C Divisional. Baker won that tournament with 145 total points, but Harlem came right in second with 75 total points. Amilia Blackcrow had the best finish for Harlem as she took first at 165 pounds thanks to a pin against Kylah Redfox from Colstrip.

In second place for Harlem were Cyla Adams at 114 pounds and Kaitlyn Johnson at 126 pounds. In fourth for the Wildcats was Mylah Rider at 145 pounds. At 114 pounds, Izzy Baker finished fifth thanks to a pin against Leah Lepinnet from Big Sandy. Ihte Stiffarm took sixth for Harlem at 152 pounds.

Chinook came in fourth in the girls tournament with 60 total points. Emma Klingaman finished first at 120 pounds thanks to a pin against Circle’s Madeline Black. At 107 pounds, Grace Buck finished third as she pinned Kyra Anderson from Chester-Joplin-Inverness. At 114 pounds, Bailey Billmayer took third as she pinned Kacie Colgan from Poplar.

Fort Benton finished fifth with 49 total points. Mica Juedeman had the best finish for the Longhorns as she took second at 235 pounds. At 132 pounds, Etta Wicks pinned Blake Ozark from Glasgow to take third. Braydee Lehman took fifth at 120 pounds as she pinned Cierra Norton from Circle. Cora Johnson took fifth at 138 pounds and Melodie Starman took seventh at 114 pounds.

CJI finished seventh in the tournament with 48 total points. At 100 pounds, Kailani Tran finished third as she won a 10-6 decision over Jeina Reum from Wolf Point. At 126 pounds, Savannah Riggin pinned Keely Heaton from Baker to finish third. In fourth place for the Hawks were Anderson at 107 pounds and Trinity Carter at 138 pounds.

Big Sandy finished 13th scoring 31 total points. Harley Labuda finished first at 107 pounds as she pinned Poplar’s Blake Follette. At 114 pounds, Leah Lepinnet finished sixth for the Pioneers.

With their success at the tournament this past weekend, these wrestlers have earned a chance to compete in the state tournament. The Class B/C state wrestling tournaments will begin this Friday at the Metra in Billings.
