Obituary - Roger T. Gruber

Roger T. Gruber, 59, passed away due to natural causes at his residence Sunday, August 20, 2023.

Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2023, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with Father Daniel Wathen officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Libby Cemetery.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Roger was born on April 20, 1964, in Cut Bank to Robert and Joan (Bartlett) Gruber. He was raised in Libby, graduating from Libby High School in 1982. He attended Northern Montana College, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in construction engineering with a business minor.

While finishing college, Roger married his first wife Dorthy Owens in 1985, had two children, Sherri and Allen, and opened Havre Bicycle Center which he operated until his passing.

He later married Terri Hirst in 1991, and they too had two children, Tyson and Thomas. Roger started a tax preparation business while also beginning his endeavor of investing in rental properties.

Roger enjoyed people and being involved in his community. He was a passionate sports enthusiast and loved a challenge. Whether it be The Ultimate Warrior Relay Race or traveling from coast to coast on a bicycle, Roger had the determination and sheer will to conquer so much in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gruber and Joan Phillips.

Roger is survived by his four children, Sherri (Eric) Larson of Oronoco, MN, Allen Gruber of Butte, Tyson Gruber of Bozeman, and Thomas Gruber of Columbia Falls; three grandchildren, Jordan and Kyle Larson and Tucker Gruber; siblings, Terri Gruber of Spokane, WA, Cathy (Jim) Anderson of Boise, ID, and Jeff (Doreen) Gruber of Libby; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many, many friends.
