Skylights split Frontier Preseason matches

The Montana State University-Northern Skylights played four tough matches in their final tuneup for the upcoming conference season. Northern was in Dillon for the Frontier Preseason Tournament, where the Skylights went 2-2.

On Saturday, the Skylights went went 1-1 overall at the Preseason-Frontier Conference Tournament in Dillon, Montana. The skylights won against (RV) University of Providence in three (25-17, 25-21, 25-22). They lost in five against (RV) Rocky Mountain College (25-17, 16-25, 15-25, 25-20, and 15-17).

Against Providence, the Skylights were led by Alyssa Pretty Weasel who had 10 kills with a .310 percentage. Alana Graves added had 12 kills. Emily Feller led the team with assists with 21. Bailey Egan led the team in digs with 16.

Against Rocky, the Skylights were led by Alana Graves who had 17 kills with a .256 percentage. Jessalyn Chvilivek added 11 kills. Emily Feller led the team in assists with 32. Bailey Egan led the team in digs with 29.

The Argos were led by Nina Janjic with nine kills each and above a .227 percentage. Nataila Slazynska led the team in assists with 14. Taylor Christensen led the team in digs with 17.

The Battlin’ Bears were led by Rhiannon Nez who had 14 kills with a percentage of .400. Brooke Ark led the team in digs with 29. Blythe Sealey led the team in assists with 54.

The Skylights went 1-1 after their first day at the Preseason-Frontier Conference Tournament in Dillon. The skylights beat Carroll College in four (16-25, 25-19, 25-17, and 25-16). They lost in four against No. 10 Montana Tech (25-19, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-21).

Against Carroll College, the Skylights were led by Alana Graves who had 13 kills with a .423 percentage. Alyssa Pretty Weasel had 14 kills with a percent of .191. Emily Feller led the team with assists with 24. Baily Egan led the team in digs with 24.

Against Montana Tech, the Skylights were led by Alyssa Pretty Weasel who had 15 kills with a .312 percentage. Alana Graves added 14 kills. Emily Feller led the team with assists with 26. Bailey Egan led the team in digs with 22.

The Fighting Saints were led by Lauren Sehanuk with 12 kills each and a percentage of .464. Maddie Wilkes led the team in assists with 24. Julia Carr led the team in digs with 39.

The Orediggers were led by Olivia Labeau who had 11 kills with a .385 percenage. Maureen Jessop added 14 kills. Jelena Jablanov led the team in digs with 19. Layton Rhys led the team in assists with 41 and added 10 digs.

With a 2-2 record in Dillon, Northern finishes the preseason at 8-7 overall. They begin Frontier Conference play Friday night against Montana Western in the Armory Gymnasium.
