Havre High qualifies four for State A Golf this weekend

The Havre High golf teams were ready to battle for Eastern A supremacy this past week in Sidney. But, the Blue Ponies ran into a tough field and a tough golf course.

Both Havre High teams finished in sixth place at last Friday's Eastern A Divisional Tournament, which was held at the Sidney Country Club.

The HHS boys placed sixth, and qualified three boys for this week's state tourney, led by an All-Conference 85 from senior Shane Patacsil. This marks the second straight year in which Patacsil qualified for state, while the same went for fellow Reid Kato, who shot a 90 to earn his way into this week's field. Joining the seminar duo is junior Callen Stoner. In his first year of varsity golf, Stoner fired a round of 92 to get into there state field. Noah Barrett shot 97 and Matt Huse shot 99 to round out the scoring for the Pony boys. Laurel edged Livingston for the boys title, while Central was third, Lewistown fourth, m Sideny fifth and Havre sixth with a 364.

On the field side, Havre standout Shea Weber shot 93 to finish eighth overall and earn All-Conference honors. Reber is headed to state for the third straight season. As a team, Havre shot 438, getting 112 from Callie Bebee, 114 from Callie Pyrak, 119 from Brenna Hanson and 122 from Tierra Parker. Central ran away with the girls team title, while Sidney was second, Laurel third, Lockwood fourth and Livingston fifth.

Now, Reber, Patacsil, Kato and Stoner will head right back to Sidney for this week's Class A State Tournament, which will be held Friday and Saturday. The tournament will be 36 holes over two days. To contenders will include both the Polson boys and girls, the Laurel and Livingston boys, as well as the Corvallis boys among others.
