Obituary - Paul Jurgen Kuhr

Paul Jurgen Kuhr passed away December 6, 2023, shortly after celebrating his 95th birthday and his 73rd wedding anniversary.

Paul was born in Havre in 1928 to Marian Broadwater Kuhr and Max Paul Kuhr. He joined his older sisters Carolyn and Kathlyn and brother Max, and the family was later joined by younger brother John. Paul was a long-time member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist.

Paul proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout during his high school years. After graduating high school in 1946, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in Alaska as a weather observer.

After separation from the service, he attended college at Northern Montana College and Montana State University, graduating in 1951 with a degree in agriculture. During that time, he met Beverly Daum, whom he married in 1950. Paul began farming and ranching south of Havre, and he and Bev were soon the proud parents of three children, Peter, Debbie and Kim.

Paul was a lover of music, taking violin lessons in school, and later teaching himself to play the mandolin. Later years found he and Bev square dancing and attending Dixieland Jazz festivals, through which they made many life-long friends.

Paul is survived by his wife, Beverly; son, Peter; daughters, Debbie (Bruce) Walters and Kim (Will) Smith; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one grandson and all of his sisters and brothers.

At Paul's request, there will be no funeral service.

Arrangements were entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
