Havre girls basketball dominates East/West Showdown

The Havre High girls basketball team is already in a groove to start the season, and that was no different in the East/West Showdown this past weekend. Inside the friendly confines of Havre High Gymnasium, the Blue Ponies defeated Whitefish, 57-29, and then beat Missoula Loyola, 70-42.

The Ponies came out strong on Friday against Whitefish. They dominated the first quarter to take a 12-4 lead over the Bulldogs. By halftime, the Ponies had built themselves a 31-14 lead. In the second half, the Ponies cruised to an easy victory at home. It was a team effort as Amaya Jarvis, Sierra Parker and Tierra Parker all scored ten points each for the Ponies.

The Ponies then stayed hot on Saturday in their win over Missoula Loyola. They jumped out a 15-12 lead before stretching their lead to 34-17 by halftime. The Ponies then dominated the third quarter to put the game away for good and improve to 4-0 this season.

The HHS girls basketball team will next play Browning at HHS Gymnasium this Thursday at 7 p.m.
