Havre Community Christmas Dinner still looking for volunteers

The Havre Community Christmas Dinner is Monday and the Havre Eagles Club is still looking for help to make the event happen.

Eagles Club Manager Candace Dess said they’re still in need of servers for the dinner as well as delivery drivers for those who can’t come in person.

Dess said food preparation is covered at this point, but any help they can get on Christmas Day will be incredibly appreciated, even if it’s only for an hour.

“We won’t turn anyone away,” she said.

The long-running Christmas tradition in Havre serves hundreds of meals every year and always requires a lot of hands to make it happen, and it looks like this year will be no different.

Dess said anyone willing to help can show up at the Eagles Club, at 9:30 a.m. Christmas Day, if they want to make deliveries, or by 11 a.m. if they want to help serve in-person dinners.

This year’s dinner will feature mashed potatoes, dinner rolls and all the usual staples, including turkey, provided by Milk River Gobblers.

Dess said they had to go with ham last year due to out-of-control turkey prices, but they are glad to be going back to turkey this year.

The dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Havre Eagles Club. Reservations for deliveries are due by 3 p.m. Friday Dec. 22, and can be made by calling 406-265-5464 before 3 p.m.

The dinner is free as always, Dess said, but they are always appreciative of free-will donations and have already gotten a few this year and they are excited.

“We look forward to seeing everyone,” she said.
