News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

A job to do?

You know, Lord, 'twas fun checking February Calendar pages, seeing who had birthdays and who got married. We "knew" one child who'd been born on Valentine's Day! Neither of us knew anyone who claimed the eighth, 15th or 16th. But family and friends, loved ones, near and far were included! Alexia thought February was well-ordered, especially since she knew one guy in his late 90s.

Her daughter peeked in - she'd been eavesdropping - she said, "Mommy, don't forget, we know a baby who is only one day old today." She giggled, then added, "We don't really know how God puts us together, as we're all different sizes and shapes. We all have different-colored hair, different-colored eyes, different shoes sizes - at least we kids at school, do. Can't we just imagine God making a babe and sending he/she down to a Mom and a Pop? God knows how many toes and fingers are needed, the color of our eyes and our hair; He also gives us free will, gives us a job to do while we're down here on earth, oh - our teacher said that we're born to die - that means we get to go back home to be with Jesus, when we've done our job down here, doing what God wants us to do! Ain't that cool? But, some of us have a problem - we're not sure what our job down here is, but we need to listen to Him!"

The door reopened. Jill's grandma shouted, "Jill, get back in here - leave those two old ladies alone -– you have a job to finish!'

Jill jumped up and ran back; the "two old ladies" just chuckled, knowing that God was at work ... referring to Matthew 19:14; Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Love, Mara
